Following Magath’s sacking is Kit Symons the right man to take Fulham forward?

Fulham have named Kit Symons as caretaker manager after relieving Felix Magath of his services at the club.

The German manager, who was brought in to stabilise Fulham during their difficult last season, has struggled this campaign, only picking up a single point in seven games.

With frustrations growing among the fans, rumours circulated on social media of a planned protest at the club’s Motspur Park training ground.

Fulham finally announced the news last night.

The decision has been met with elation from the majority of fans but some have expressed concerns over Symons being named the clubs’ permanent successor.

Supporter Ryan Price, 26, from Fulham said: “I think it’s a good idea in the short term until we find someone permanent.

“I still think we would need someone with more managerial experience.”

Fan Robin Dean echoed this sentiment, stating: “I would have been alarmed if they made it [the appointment] permanent straight away.”

Former Celtic manager Neil Lennon has been tipped as an early favourite for the post, while in an interview with talkSPORT, former captain and fans’ favourite Danny Murphy said: “Of course I’d love to be involved [with the club] at some point.”

For now however Symons will be given his chance to turn Fulham’s fortunes around and will make his managerial debut at Craven Cottage next weekend when his team host Blackburn Rovers.
