Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have reached out to Manchester Dogs’ Home following a fire which killed 60 animals last night.
More than 150 injured dogs were rescued from the Harpurhey blaze and have now been moved to the sister site at Cheshire Dogs’ Home.
Staff, volunteers and members of the public were at the scene with food and blankets hoping to save as many animals as possible.
A Battersea spokesman said: “Battersea Dogs & Cats Home is incredibly saddened to learn of the fire on Thursday evening at Manchester Dogs’ Home and we extend our deepest sympathies to all the staff and volunteers at the centre.
“We understand this tragic incident may have led to the loss of several rescue dogs.
“Battersea is very willing to help in any way we can over the coming days and weeks and we have attempted contact with the Manchester rescue centre to see how we can support them at this difficult time.”

A JustGiving page set up last night by a Manchester paper has raised more than £550,000.
Greater Manchester Police have since arrested a 15-year-old on suspicion of arson.
