The Gunners welcome the Blues to Boreham Wood in our London Derby
Midfielder Jordan Nobbs believes Arsenal have finally reached their best form as they look to dent the FA Women’s Super League 1 title aspirations of London rivals Chelsea.
After picking up only four points from their opening five games, three wins in the last four have seen the Gunners rise to fourth in the table, six points behind the Blues.
However, while Nobbs thinks Arsenal’s title chances are out of reach, she believes her side will have a major say in the outcome of where the trophy will end up – having beaten third place Birmingham City on Sunday and with a game against Liverpool on the penultimate weekend of the season still to come.
“We want to win all of our remaining games and for us they are all big games,” Nobbs said.
“I think it’s important that we have our say on the league and what is going to happen at the top.
“With the performance against City I think we showed what we can do and it’s important for us to finish on a high.
“We’ve got big games coming up and it’s massive for us to be able to show that we are getting to the level we want to be at.
“I think Chelsea have been one of the strongest teams this year and have played some really good football.
“So it’s going to be really competitive and I think a big game which we will be up for.
“Early on we had some disappointing performances and we probably hadn’t gelled like we would have wanted to.
“But I think we know now where we are going and what we are doing and we want to take points off the top teams and have a say in what is going to happen.”
Six wins out of seven have propelled Chelsea to the top of the table, their only defeat coming at second-place Liverpool.
But with just three points separating the top three, striker Rosella Ayane admits they cannot afford to let up if they are to end the season with silverware.
“This match could also be another crucial one for us if we are going to challenge for the title,” Ayane said.
“They will be a big threat and have many big names like Kelly Smith that can change the game with one kick of the ball.
“I have never played Arsenal before even though I’ve been in matchday squads against them.
“I’m really looking forward to playing against such impressive players more often and these games are the ones our squad always dream of playing in.”
