The anonymous man’s latest job is finding a two-year-old boy’s cuddly monkey.
There is an anonymous vigilante in Elephant and Castle going around helping people with anything from day-to-day tasks to finding long lost fathers, and a whole lot in between.
The man is known as ‘The Free Help Guy’ and takes requests over email or social media offering his services for no charge.
After starting out merely trying to fill in a six-month gap between employment, he felt so good he has continued his charitable work.
The unnamed man said: “I help people for free anonymously.
“It’s my way of making a difference or at least attempting to do so. It started with an advert online offering for people to simply ask if they needed anything. To my surprise, people replied.
“Since then, I’ve done all sorts from helping people to move house to helping find someone’s long lost father.”
And this leads him to his latest conquest, finding a cuddly monkey ‘Charlie’ for a two-year-old Franklyn, after his Mum Roxie got in touch.
After ‘Charlie’ went missing on Friday December 6 on Portobello Road, the campaign has already had an offer of a new monkey from Marks and Spencers and an offer of free tickets for him and his mother to go to London Zoo.
“I figured there may be a way in which we online can find someone who may know his whereabouts.
“No one should lose their best friend and Charlie is Franklyn’s. We were all two years old once and probably had that one thing that meant the world to us back then.
“So with that collective appreciation I reckon that even if we can’t relocate Charlie the Monkey, then we may be able to find a way to make sure that at the very least Franklyn’s Christmas isn’t ruined.”
But there is no sign of ‘Charlie’ so far – if you can help please get in touch.
