Chocolate Films provide film making workshops for young people.
The public are invited to Clapham Picturehouse this December to witness the talent of 150 young filmmakers from across London.
The Christmas Chocolate Box, hosted by Chocolate Films, will showcase a mixture of animations, dramas and live TV documentaries made by young people involved in projects such as Lambeth Autism Group, Futureversity and Watermans Art Centre.
Films include a dolphin who escaped his tank and went to space, a sleep walking lion and a man who one day woke up as a woman.
I think there is quite a lot of emerging support,” said Laura Kloss, Learning and Community Project Manager at Chocolate Films. “It is quite an expensive art form, very difficult for young people to get access to it.”
Chocolate Films run between 200 to 500 workshops a year for young people who do not have the opportunity to pick up a camera and start shooting.
Recently, they held an animation workshop with year four pupils at Surbiton High School, who said: “It was the best day at school, EVER!”
Ms Kloss said: “We just like to see more young people to get involved in film making.”
