Their previous match was controversially stopped by the referee.
Hammersmith’s George Groves has insisted he is confident of beating Carl Froch in six rounds if he gets the rematch against the IBF and WBA super-middleweight champion.
Despite going into the first bout as a heavy underdog in the pre-fight odds, Groves backed-up his pre-bout words with a sensational performance to give Froch one of his toughest fights in his career.
Referee Howard Foster’s controversial stoppage has left Groves and much of the boxing world demanding an immediate rematch, in a fight the younger man would possibly go into as the favourite with Betfair following his last showing.
But while Groves has admitted he is desperate to be given the chance to gain revenge straight away, Froch has kept his cards closer to his chest, putting distance between himself and another bout against his young rival and claiming he would rather his next fight was in Las Vegas.
The 26-year-old was left furious by the controversial nature of the defeat by Froch in the first fascinating encounter between the two, but Groves has made it clear he feels a second fight would only end one way and put to bed any doubts that he is the next British superstar.
The Betfair odds were certainly look a lot different than they did heading into the first fight if the rematch is agreed. Groves proved a lot of people wrong with his performance and will have convinced a fair number of people that he is capable of beating Froch.
While Groves has revealed he is not going to wait around forever to get another chance against Froch but believes he would gain revenge if the pair were to meet again in the ring.
“If the rematch happens I will stop Carl Froch in six rounds. That’s the improvements I have made already, without even stepping back into the gym. These are improvements that will let me know a little bit more about Carl Froch.
“I had made assumptions about Carl Froch through sparring, through watching him through the media and through watching his previous bouts. Now l have boxed him for nine rounds and I know a lot more about him. And I would approach it different.”
