A derelict site will be transformed into a multi-million pound development.
A new development is set to boost Earlsfield’s economy after a security firm was given the green light to establish their headquarters in the area.
An empty warehouse and railway embankment in Thornsett Road is to be replaved with a new development which will become the base of operations for Banham Security, London’s largest security supplier.
The multi-million pound development will be more than twice the size of their current offices in Vauxhall and will bring over 300 jobs to the local area.
Charles Hallatt, Executive Chairman at Banham, said that the move was a significant milestone for the company.
“We see our headquarters as setting a new benchmark for regeneration of the area and it will be built to the highest specification,” he said.
Planning Committee chairman, Councillor Nick Cuff, said the arrival of the firm and its 300 employees would benefit local shops and businesses.
“As well as bringing a vacant site back into use, this plan is expected to boost the local economy by bringing more people to the area – in turn resulting in an increase in people using its shops and services,” he said.
“Not only will it help revitalise Earlsfield with an exemplary new development, it could also act as a catalyst for further investment in this part of the borough.”
Go-ahead for the development comes soon after the council announced it was looking to create a new school on the Atheldene site in Garratt Lane, Earlsfield.
