Female cyclists in London now have a new team to ride for, as London Dynamo, one of the capital’s biggest teams, are encouraging women of all abilities to join their squad.
Dynamo, based in Richmond Park, already have a number of women who ride competitively and recreationally for the team, however heading into 2014 they are looking to capitalise on the interest in cycling post-Olympics.
Tracy Corbett, who heads the women’s team, is part of a 12-strong racing team who compete in National Series races, but she is encouraging any women who are interested in cycling to come along to one of their Saturday park rides.
“For the first time since the Olympics we have put more effort into bringing more women through the club and into the skills sessions,” she said.
“If any women are interested in getting involved we ask them to come along to the beginners ride where they will be taught the basic skills of riding in a peloton and the etiquette of cycling.”
Membership costs £40 for the year and includes access to the coaching within the club, as well as discounted club kit.
The club rides (including the beginners ride) take place every Saturday morning at 9am, departing from the Pen Ponds car park in Richmond Park.
