Jason Taylor’s work is on display at the Pump House Gallery until November 10.
A free exhibition of everyday items transformed into artistic masterpieces are now on display at the Pump House Gallery, Battersea Park.
Artist and established designer, Jason Taylor, has over 100 of his ‘Everyday Objects’ works at the exhibition, which is open until November 10.
The touring exhibition has been produced and designed by Taylor for the 20-21 Visual Arts Centre.
In a statement for the touring exhibition, Taylor said: “I enjoyed the challenge of transforming familiar objects into other things, giving them a new function and sometimes even a new life.”
“The main reason for deciding to make something every day was to be more productive and generate new ideas. Initially, it was only going to be a personal project and I never intended to share the results.
Taylor’s works include creative artistic works made from everyday objects ranging from pens, brushes, cans, lego toys, or cheese graters.
In particular, furniture such stools and benches made from giant scrubbing brushes caught the eye of the visitors.
“Sometimes the ideas would start with a play on words or a pun but I think the more successful ones were born out of playing and experimenting with processes – often leading to surprising results.”
The exhibition is open every Wednesday-Sunday between 11am-5pm.
The Pump House Gallery is located on the lakeside of Battersea Park, within a five minute walk from all the park entrances.
In addition to the exhibition, the gallery is holding a number of events for the public to get involved.
Half term art workshops from October 30 to November 1 will be open to children aged 8-11.
Based on the gallery works, each day will hold a fantastic opportunity for young artists to learn new art techniques.
Workshops run between 10am-4pm, priced £40 a day.
