A man from Kensington and Chelsea who shot a disabled women and murdered her partner has been sentenced to life in prison and must serve a minimum of 42 years.

David Anthony Bidace, 30, was found guilty of murdering Dothan Gordon, 32, and of the attempted murder of Mr Gordon’s partner at their home in West Ealing.

The court heard that on June 20 last year, Bidace travelled by motorbike to Mr Gordon’s home address in Felix Road, where they spent a number of hours together in the living room.

During this time, he was introduced to Mr Gordon’s disabled partner, who was in her bedroom, where she was later joined by two other females and a baby.

Shortly afterwards, Mr Gordon’s partner heard a loud bang from within the property, and moments later Bidace opened her bedroom door and fired a gun at her. Unable to escape because of her disability, she was shot in the upper torso, with a second shot narrowly missing her.

One of the visitors pushed against the door to stop Bidace from entering the room, and when his gun jammed he fled the house on his motorbike.

The Police and London Ambulance Service attended the flat where Mr Gordon was pronounced dead at the scene. A post-mortem gave the cause of death as a gunshot wound. His partner was taken to hospital where she received treatment.

Officers found Bidace four days later in Ipswich, and he was charged on June 26 with murder, attempted murder and possession of a firearm.

Detective Chief Inspector Dave Rock, of Trident Gang Command, said that the case had been a complex one and the officers had worked together tirelessly to piece together what happened that day.

“This was a brutal and violent attack on a father of three children in his own home,” he said.

“Not only did Bidace murder Dothan, he callously then sought to take the life of his partner who due to her disability was unable to move from her bed and protect herself. Had the gun not jammed there is a strong possibility that there could have been multiple victims that day.”

Bidace will serve 36 years for the attempted murder of Dothan’s partner and 15 years for possession of a firearm, both which will run concurrently with the murder conviction. This is one of the longest sentences for a crime investigated by the Trident Gang Command.

“Bidace has shown no remorse for murdering Dothan, neither has he shown any remorse for the injuries he has inflicted on Dothan’s partner,” added DCI Rock.

“I would like to pay tribute to the victim; she has shown a tremendous amount of courage to attend court and to give evidence against Bidace to ensure that he is brought to justice.

“I hope that today’s convictions will bring some sense of justice to the family and friends who have been devastated by Dothan’s murder.”
