The four month long consultation ends on June 17.
A ‘last chance’ meeting for residents to have their say about the planned closure of Clapham Fire Station will take place later this month.
The public meeting will take place on June 17 at Clapham Library, the last day of London Fire Authority’s four month long public consultation into the future of fire services in London.
Leader of the Council, Cllr Lib Peck, said that according to the London Fire Brigade the closure will increase the time it takes a fire engine to reach an emergency by four minutes.
“No other London borough is facing such a large increase in emergency response times as Lambeth,” she said.
“The public meeting is Lambeth’s last chance to show the Mayor and Fire Authority how strongly we feel about their plan to close Clapham fire station.”
The meeting follows a public consultation held three weeks ago, attended by over 200 people – the biggest of its kind in London.
Councillor for Clapham Town ward, Christopher Wellbelove, said: “This is a really important chance to show the Boris Johnson and the London Fire Authority how important Clapham fire station is to the local community. I urge residents to come along and make their voices heard.”
