Mohmud Ahmed was found guilty of GBH with Intent to endanger life.
A man has been sentenced to four years in prison after carrying out an assault in Lambeth.
Mohmud Ahmed, of Hilda Lockett Walk, was convicted of GBH with Intent to endanger life at Inner London Crown Court earlier this month and will serve his time at a Young Offenders Institute.
The court heard that on October 20 2012, 20-year-old Ahmed met a group of friends near Akerman Road, when he suddenly put on some gloves, took out a knife and assaulted the victim before running off.
The 19-year-old victim suffered two stab wounds to his arm and received treatment at a South London hospital.
He assisted Lambeth CID by providing a statement, but shortly afterwards decided he did not wish to go to court.
Officers deemed it in the public interest to proceed, and Ahmed was arrested two weeks later.
“Due to the comprehensive investigation there was a successful prosecution against Ahmed who was found guilty within 90 minutes by the Jury,” said DC Chris Dawson, the investigating officer.
“This is an example of the tough stance Lambeth CID and the Criminal Justice System are taking on knife crime. Whether the victim wishes the prosecution to continue or not, if the evidence is available then prosecution is possible.”
