The Blues beat Basel to set up a final with Benfica
Rafa Benitez insists his Chelsea side are concentrating on securing a Champions League place next season rather than celebrating reaching the Europa League final.
Goals from Fernando Torres, Victor Moses and a David Luiz screamer saw off Basel last night to set up a final place with Benfica in Amsterdam on May 15th.
But Benitez, winner of European trophies with Valencia and Liverpool, was only looking ahead to forthcoming league matches against Manchester United and Tottenham.
“A celebration? There will be nothing special,” said Benitez.
“It’s more important to show character and keep winning. We have to keep the momentum.
“United will be tough and Tottenham will be crucial. Hopefully we can do it.
“To get three points in every game would be massive because we are so close.
“We have to do our job and hopefully other teams will make mistakes.”
The former Liverpool boss believes his side have enough to grab that all-important automatic Champions League spot.
“We must take one game at a time and concentrate on the job in hand.
“We have another big game on Sunday. We know we have difficult games but we have confidence we have enough quality in the team.”
