TOM Croft is preparing to relive the highlight of his career so far after being named in Warren Gatland’s British & Irish Lions squad.

The England flanker was today one of 37 players selected for the summer tour of Australia, despite having missed the majority of the season with a broken neck.

The Leicester Tigers ace made his name on the 2009 Lions tour of South Africa, scoring twice in the first Test, and he is relishing being part of the squad once again.

“To get selected into a side that is made up from the four countries around you is a special thing,” said the 27-year-old.

“It doesn’t really happen in any other sport so it is fairly unique in that aspect.

“It is an exciting time in a rugby player’s career to play for the Lions, to pull on that red shirt whether it is midweek or a first Test.

“Playing for the Lions has been the highlight of my career so far and it is always good fun.

“You go into a hostile environment and you are always the away side but the boys live off that and it is part of the challenge of playing for the Lions.

“Everyone is so pumped about being selected for the Lions and you come together very, very quickly because you want to achieve a great thing.”
