AFC Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley insisted his side have their own future in their hands after coming back to seal a point against League Two champions Gillingham.
Goals from Jack Midson and Jonathan Meades gave the Dons a vital point, while a win against Fleetwood Town would keep Wimbledon in league football for a second successive season.
And Ardley, who was a player at the original Wimbledon, is hoping his players will take confidence from being masters of their own destiny.
“That point could be crucial for us because it is still in our own hands now for the last game of the season,” said Ardley.
“To come back from 2-0 down at the home of the Champions is a fantastic achievement.
“Hopefully, after the last game against Exeter, the boys will believe they can stay up.”
However, Ardley admitted the game was not all plain sailing and he was forced to make tactical changes at half time to turn the match around.
However, he admitted the changes made gave the Dons’ players the confidence as they responded well to Ardley’s new ideas.
“We worked all week in training on the way that we were going to do things and we did not do them,” he added.
“That is why we fell 2-0 down and at that stage you felt like going in at half-time and ripping into a few of them. Everything they had worked on had been thrown out of the window.
“We went with a slight change of shape and we pushed them on in the second-half.
“We had to instill belief that they could still do it if they did what we asked them to and they really responded.”
