Cherelle McKenzie-Jackson, 14, and boyfriend Marc Anthony Tulloch, 17, were convicted of the manslaughter of 15-year-old Junior Nkwelle.
The two young killers of a teenager in Lambeth last September have been sentenced to a total of 18 years in prison.
Cherelle McKenzie-Jackson, 14, and boyfriend Marc Anthony Tulloch, 17, were convicted of the manslaughter of 15-year-old Junior Nkwelle, last month.
McKenzie-Jackson and Tulloch, serving eight and ten years respectively, were found not guilty of murder and will spend half their sentences in a young offenders institute.
Detective Chief Inspector Charles King of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command said: “I hope that today’s sentences go some way in helping Junior’s family move forward. I also hope that they will act as a warning to others.”
The three week Old Bailey trial detailed the knife attack on the teenager who had been playing football with his friends when an argument broke out with McKenzie-Jackson.
She phoned her boyfriend and told him Junior had disrespected her when she interrupted the game of football on the Loughborough housing estate.
Tulloch then travelled to the area and started fighting with Junior before stabbing him.
The attack occurred at 9pm on the Loughborough Estate, Brixton, near Junior Nkwelle’s home.
A family member said: “It is heartbreaking for our family and friends, having to re-live the sad, horrific death of our innocent young Junior.”
Judge Richard Hone said he had decided to lift an order banning identification of the killers in the hope naming them would act as a deterrent.
Lambeth offences for crimes of Violence Against the Person over a 12 month period to February 2013 are down on the same period a year earlier from 7,155 to 6,897.
Incidents of homicide are down from eight to six and total crime has dropped 1,543 to 35,351 offences.
The family had previously hoped that the two perpetrators would come to justice so that Junior would be able to rest in peace.
