Harry Redknapp believes that QPR still have a chance of surviving relegation despite losing to Aston Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
Christian Benteke’s late winner gave the home side a 3-2 victory, and halted Rangers two-game winning streak, leaving them bottom of the Premier League.
But Redknapp still believes his team’s recent performances show they are capable of picking up enough points in their remaining eight games and escaping the drop.
“We need to win four or five games. It is not impossible. While there is hope, you keep believing,” he said.
“It is hard with the points situation, but we cannot be playing any better. We are playing very well, that is all we can do.
“With eight games to go, we need to keep trying to win the games. If we can do that, we can still do it.”
Jermaine Jenas put Rangers ahead but Gabriel Agbonlahor grabbed an equaliser against the run of play just before the break.
Andreas Weimann gave Villa the lead in the second half and Andros Townsend thought he had salvaged a point for Rangers until Benteke’s winner.
And Redknapp admits QPR, who travel to Fulham after the international break, missed a golden opportunity to continue their march towards safety.
“We threw it away from where we were,” he added. “We were fantastic in the first half. It was so one-sided it was unbelievable.
“In the second half, we did not start as well, and it gave them a lift. But even then, at 2-2 we gave a sloppy third goal away.
“Now we have got to go and win away from home somewhere.
“We have got to win at Fulham, we have got to win at Reading.
“We have got to win one of those games and we have got to win our home games.”
