Neil Ardley was left singing Jack Midson’s praises after the striker’s winner with less than 20 minutes to go gave AFC Wimbledon all three points.
Wimbledon’s win against the Shots gave them with their third successive win of the season and lifted them five points clear of the relegation zone.
But Ardley insisted keeping his players rested was key for AFC Wimbledon with midweek games and that no one has been dropped from the side.
“It was a sublime piece of skill that won the match,” said Ardley.
“People read too much into the fact that Jack did not start on Tuesday. Some players have played a hell of a lot of games and he is one of those.
“On Tuesday we also went with a formation that we thought would freshen up the squad, but Jack came back into the line-up today.
“It is not a case of anyone in the squad being dropped as we need to keep everyone fresh with so many games.”
The Dons boss was also full of praise for his back four who managed a clean sheet as Wimbledon climbed up the table.
He said: “We defended well as a team and I thought it would take something special or unusual to unlock us.
“I thought Alan Bennett was outstanding – he was immense for us.”
