A festive farmers’ market is coming to Teddington this Christmas with an array of seasonal foods.
The farmers’ market will be piloted at Teddington Memorial Hospital on 25th November, with a view of becoming permanent in the spring.
Mark Handley, of London Farmers’ Markets, said all stalls will be run by food producers and farmers, who will take orders for home-reared free ranged turkeys and geese.
The market will tempt customers with a range of sweets and savouries including cured and rare meats, minced pies, farmhouse cheeses, artisan breads, locally grown fruit and vegetables and Christmas cakes and puddings.
Mr Handley added: “We’ve had so many enquiries over the years from Teddington residents so we are delighted to have this trial market off the ground.”
The support shown at the market will help organisers to determine if a regular weekly market will be viable next year.
As a first for the town, the Teddington market offers people an additional choice instead of heading to Kingston or Twickenham.
“I think it will be very popular,” Mr Handley said, “If this one is successful, we hope that a regular weekly farmers’ market will commence at the hospital in the spring.”
The market will donate fees to the trusts charitable funds and present a hamper to the hospital for patients and staff this Christmas.
The event will take place in the car park of Teddington Health and Social Care Centre, behind Teddington Memorial Hospital.
