A South London gymnastic school scooped a total of 13 medals, 12 of which were gold, in the Autumn Championship of the London region gymnastic competition over the weekend.
Sutton School of Gymnastics entered eight gymnasts to compete in three different age groups and won every competition.
In the nine year olds competition, Amber Payne from Sutton, collected four gold medals winning 1st All Around, 1st on Beam, Floor and Uneven Bars, whilst club mate Skye Thorneback from Epsom, picked up the Silver medal.
In the 11 year olds competition, Francesca Sinnerton, from Sutton, overcame competition nerves to win three gold medals in her first competition, collecting 1st All Around and 1st on Beam and Floor.
As Francesca took to the podium to collect her gold medals she was overcome with happiness and tears filled her eyes.
She said: “It felt unreal when I got my medals. I looked up at the audience and saw my mum crying which made me start. I was just so happy.”
Head Coach Liz Jones said: “I am probably the proudest gymnastics coach in London at the moment. The girls worked really hard for this and a massive amount of hard work and dedication gave them their moment to shine.”
The gymnasts are in the gym between four and five times a week, but all agree their dedication pays off when they win competitions.
The Carshalton based School runs gymnastics sessions throughout the week for all ages and abilities. They aim to help each gymnast reach the most of their ability whist enjoying the sport.
