The two-day event gave 35 youngsters the chance to take part in healthy cooking and baking activities.
Food-loving children turned out for an Olympic themed cookery workshop in Putney last week.
The two-day event, which took place on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 August at children’s play centre Eddie Catz on Lacy Road, gave 35 youngsters aged four to eight the chance to take part in healthy cooking and baking activities.
Costing £45, the package included free access to the play facilities and a special Olympic cooking medal was given to each young chef at the end.
Cookie Crumbles workshop organiser, Carola Weymouth, said that Olympic theme was an obvious choice.
“The Olympics are part of London, so the theme and the prize of gold medals really added to the Team G.B euphoria,” she said.
“The kids were all really happy, they had a good time and that’s what it’s all about.”
The workshop, which focused on encouraging children to embrace a healthy diet, saw participants develop their culinary skills by making treats such as apricot muffins and energy bars.
Mother of two, Lucy Blosstone, who is a regular to the holiday classes, welcomed the initiative enthusiastically.
“My six year old is quite a slim child, so it encouraged her to eat more whilst learning about nutrition,” she said.
“It’s great that they’re learning about the health aspects.”
Eddie Catz worker, Linda Ngang said that everyone got into the Olympic spirit.
“All the kids were really engaged and excitable. It was all good fun,” she said.
Mrs Weymouth, who regularly organises cookery workshops over the holiday periods at Eddie Catz and in Kensington, is pleased with the event’s success.
“It’s been hard work, good fun, but worth it,” she added.
