South West Londoners can now see how the London 2012 Olympics will affect their travel and journey times.
As millions prepare to descend upon London for the Olympics next summer, motorists can now find out just how much their journeys will be affected.
By visiting the newly launched Olympic transport website, motorists can select various destinations in London for increased journey time estimates, along with travel ‘hotspot’ information.
With road closures and increased traffic during the Games, which take place from July 27 to August 12, residents are being reminded of significant transport disruption.
Cycling road races throughout the likes of Fulham and Wandsworth join Earls Court’s hosting of volleyball in causing disruption, with residents urged to add time to their journeys.
Deputy leader and cabinet member for environment, Councillor Nick Botterill, has urged however that common sense is used to balance the needs of both Olympic athletes and residents.
He said: “The Olympic Games will undoubtedly provide a once-in-a-life-time spectacle for Londoners including residents of Hammersmith & Fulham.”
He added: “There will be significant transport disruption for both residents and businesses, and we are calling on Transport for London and LOCOG to do all they can to ensure that problems are kept to a minimum.”
