Balham Festive Evening: Bedford Hill

26 November, 4-5pm

Clapham and Wandsworth residents can get into the festive spirit this evening, in the Balham Community Space (next to the Sainsbury’s car park). It features performances by Balham Ukelele Society, Cheshnut Grove Steel Band and the South London Choir and the Christmas lights will be switched on by the Mayor of Wandsworth. Refreshments will come from local business.


Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert: The Clapham Grand

25 November, doors open 7pm (adults only)

With yesterday’s 20th anniversary of the showman’s untimely passing, The Clapham Grand is holding a commemorative concert in honour of Queen frontman Freddie Mercury is tonight. It will celebrate the music of Queen and Mercury’s charismatic appeal.


Comedy Carnival: The Clapham Grand

26 November 7-10pm (adults only)

The Clapham Grand is staging the very best stand-up from London, the UK and the rest of the globe. Tomorrow’s show will feature Britain’s foremost comedian-come-magician Pete Firman, Andrew Bird and Edinburgh Comedy Award nominee Paul Sinha.


December Putney Market: Church Square, Putney

December 2, 3-7.45pm

Those feeling festive can get down to Church square for Putney’s annual Christmas fayre. Visitors can toast the switching on the legendary lights with some mulled wine, and can going shopping in the usual shops or the variety of craft workshops there for the duration of the market. And, as a treat for the little ‘uns (or older ones!), Santa will make an appearance to see who has been naughty or nice.

 

Cineworld: Wandsworth

New films showing at Cineworld this week include the latest installment of Stephanie Meyer’s blockbuster vampire franchise –Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1, the feted comedy/drama about dealing with cancer – 50/50, the drama about a seminal year in Marilyn Monroe’s life – My Week With Marilyn and baseball underdog tale, Moneyball.
