Festival of the Voice: Kingston Town Centre

Kingston Arts’ fourth Festival of the Voice draws upon a wealth of vocal talent, featuring artists including conductors Ken Burton and Simon Toyne, and renowned singers Robin Blaze, Andrew Staples, Roderick Williams, Heather Keens, Alison Pearce and Michael Bundy. This year’s festival includes many events to appeal to different tastes and reflect key themes of Greek Mythology, Heroes and Heroines and the build-up to the Olympic Games in 2012. There are still many opportunities for young people to get involved.
Charity Craft Fair: St. John’s Church Hall, 411 Malden Road, Worcester Park
Saturday November 19, 11am – 2pm
Entry: free
Go along to this charity craft fair in aid of Surrey Sands, the Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity, and other charities to save babies’ lives and support bereaved families. There will be original design work and many gifts on sale ideal for Christmas. Many of the designers and crafters are donating up to as much as 100% of sales to the charities. Refreshments, a baking stall, a raffle, tombola and children’s crafts will be some of the treats on offer.

Maple Village WI Christmas Fayre: St. Andrews Church, Maple Road, Surbiton

Visit this fayre and stock up on local Christmas gifts, including handcraft pieces, homemade products and lots more. Cake and refreshments will be served.

The Rose Theatre Event: Rose Theatre, High Street Kingston

For an evening of culture, visit the Rose Theatre to watch a star-studded cast of principal singers including Roderick Williams, Robin Blaze and Andrew Staples who will join the Tiffin Oratorio Choir, period-instrument orchestra Singonia Britannica and conductor Simon Toyne to perform Handel’s dramatic oratorio Saul.

The Snow Queen Trail: Kingston Town Centre

In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the Rose Theatre will present a range of special performances to celebrate its adaptation of Hans Christian Andersen’s The Snow Queen. Using storytelling and popular songs, a group of travelling players will perform short and lively adaptations of The Princess and the Pea, The Ugly Duckling, The Nightingale, The Emperor’s New Clothes and Thumbelina. With four tales performed in intimate ‘story houses’ and a fifth taking place in the streets of Kingston, the Snow Queen Trail will be a magical journey perfect for the whole family.
To take part, just turn up on the day and find one of the story houses around the town centre and market square.
