World’s biggest Coffee Morning – Organise Your Own, today, everywhere
Macmillan Cancer Support are urging Kingstonians to hold coffee mornings across the area today in support of everyone affected by cancer. It could be just three friends getting together for coffee and cakes or a gathering of hundreds at a community centre.

This annual festival of ideas is back throughout the month of October all over Kingston throughout October. Events include a film screening and debate about the film of The Economics of Happiness on 4September at Kingston University, a riverside discussion of “The Politics of Happiness” with Julian Baggini, lunchtime singing and happiness workshops at the Culture Cafe on Wednesday 19 and various discussions on ethical, political and philosophical matters.
Poetry Athletics, Surbiton Library

‘Pump up those poetry muscles’ with this year’s athletics-themed National Poetry Day. The free event is hosted at Surbiton Library, Ewell Road, Surbiton on Thursday 6 October from 7pm to 8pm, will feature lively linguistics and will be followed by an open mike.

A Celebration of Opera and Musical Favourites, Landmark Arts Centre, Teddington
