The Untold British Civil Rights Movement, Polka Theatre

Eight days of events celebrating literature at various locations in Wimbledon. Alistair Darling discusses his new book, Back from the Brink: 1000 Days at No.10, with Channel 4’s economics editor Faisal Islam (October 5 at The Big Tent on Wimbledon Common, 7.30pm, £15) and the Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy reads from her new collection ‘The Bees’ (October 6, The Big Tent on Wimbledon Common, 7.30pm, £10).

Ever wanted to know more about apples? No? Well come and discover the culinary history of the Great British Apple anyway with apple displays, apple tasting and apple printing in an event organised by the National Trust. The Riverside Cafe will be serving a suitably apple-themed menu including apple pies, scones, flapjacks and muffins as well as apple and parsnip soup.
