Dri Dri Gelato’s delivery service launch is going down a treat with customers looking to cool down in the hot weather.
Ice cream lovers can now enjoy Italian gelato without even leaving the house after a home delivery service was launched in Chelsea last week.
Launched by Dri Dri Gelato, the service delivers up to four of its 20 flavours of homemade ice creams and sorbets to houses in SW3 and SW7.
London’s ‘Indian Summer’ has clearly proven to be a good time for the launch, as around 10 litres of orders are being delivered each day by scooter.
Despite the sweet treat proving popular during this unexpected heatwave, owner Adriano di Petrillo – otherwise known as Dri Dri – is convinced his sales will increase over the coming winter months.
He said: “I notice in the winter people don’t eat as much ice cream. But at home, every time I eat dinner with friends it’s gone in five minutes – it’s a novelty.
“As it gets colder, fewer people eat a cone as they walk down the street, so I wanted to find a way to bring gelato into people’s homes.”
Dri Dri Gelato has been running since July 2010, and has shops in Chelsea and Notting Hill.
The ice cream is made with organic British milk using Italian recipes.
If the home delivery service is successful, Harvard Business School graduate Mr Petrillo plans to open more shops in London and further afield in European destinations such as Spain.
Dri Dri Gelato costs £10.60 for 500mls or £19.60 for 1l – delivery is free until the end of November.
