A precocious gymnast from Clapham has earned national recognition for embodying the best the sport has to offer.
Milan Fraser, of Clapham Gymnastics Club, has been nominated for Young Person of the Year at the British Gymnastics Awards 2025, in large part due to her tireless drive and enthusiasm for all things gymnastics and making sure everyone can enjoy the sport she loves.
For Fraser, gymnastics means everything and the youngster expressed her gratitude to a sport that has helped her on and off the mat.
“Being a finalist for this gymnastics award makes me feel so happy and inspired!” she said. “I always try my best, not just in gymnastics but in school too, where I’ve earned the most house points for helping others.
“Gymnastics has taught me discipline and confidence, and I love using that to coach younger kids and to learn new skills. This isn’t just about me—it’s proof that hard work gets noticed!
“I hope others see that they don’t need to be shy or hold back. This also means so much to my mum, who’s worked so hard as a single mum to support me. Thank you!”
The British Gymnastics Awards 2025 have seen a record-breaking number of nominations this year, focusing on those who have demonstrated a commitment to delivering an uplifting gymnastics experience for all and living the inclusive, aspirational and supportive values of the sport.
British Gymnastics want to shine a spotlight on exceptional people and organisations that help keep gymnastics enjoyable, safe and open to everyone, making a positive contribution to individuals, local communities and wider society.
