WATCH: Kensington hosts UK’s biggest teddies festival

The Hugglets Teddies Festival returned this year at Kensington Town Hall, welcoming collectors, enthusiasts and lovers of bears.

Thousands of cuddly creatures were on display from makers and dealers who’d travelled far and wide for the event on Sunday 22 September.

We spoke to attendees from London to Japan, all of whom had their own specialties and favourites.

The festival offers contemporary bears for sale in a variety of funky new colours and designs, as well as more traditional offerings.

Some of the vintage bears were worth thousands of pounds, with others reminiscent of a rich history in bear making.

Hugglets is now staged annually since the first festival of its kind in 1989.

It was initially introduced by bear enthusiasts Glenn and Irene Jackman, but now the mantle has been passed to Sebastian Marquardt.

The next iteration of Hugglets will be held in February back at Kensington Town Hall, so expect to see some familiar faces and brand new iterations to add to your teddy bear picnic!
