St Raphael’s Hospice launches real-life Monopoly fundraising event

St Raphael’s Hospice is launching a fundraising event this September called Property Dash where attendees will play real-life Monopoly in Merton.

The event will take place on September 13-14 from 12:30pm–5pm.

Attendees will be put in teams and donors will be able to take selfies at key locations and add properties to their totals.

St Raphael’s Hospice is an independent charity providing free end of life care and support for around 1,000 adults living in Merton and Sutton.

Merton resident Eulalia relies on support from St Raphael’s Hospice.

She said: “Living with a terminal illness is uncertain and challenging.

“As my illness gets worse, the road I travel becomes narrower, but the hospice nurses open doors for me so that the roads get wider again.”

The charity relies heavily on donations as only 25% of its funding comes from the NHS.

To maintain structure and reduce costs, the charity is mostly made up of volunteers.

Director of Fundraising and Communications at St Raphael’s Hospice Kate Billingham Wilson said: “Fundraising events like this help us continue to be here for the people of Merton and Sutton they need us most.”

To participate there is a registration fee of £30 per adult or £15 per child and discounted rates are available for teams of four to six.

The suggested minimum sponsorship per team is £350.

Registration can be made online, by visiting //straphaels.org.uk/property-dash
