The outside of the Mosaic House

The Mosaic House in Chiswick: a hidden mosaic masterpiece

Hidden away on a quiet, suburban street in Chiswick, is one of London’s most extraordinary pieces of public artwork: the Mosaic House.

The house is the home of renowned mosaic artist, Carrie Reichardt.

A layer of colourful mosaic tiles wraps around the house and the two vehicles parked outside featuring a variety of artists, influences, and social commentary.

Perhaps most notable are the tributes to American prisoners on Death Row as part of Reichardt’s long-standing campaign against the death penalty.

Reichardt embarked on the project in the 1990s and some of the best mosaic artists in the world helped to finish the house in 2017.

SW Londoner headed to Chiswick, to visit the Mosaic House and speak to Carrie about her work.
