One of the UK’s largest airlines donated £25,000 to a south London American football club’s crowdfunding page as part of its effort to support communities across the world.
British Airways (BA) sent the money to the London Warriors American Football Club Crowdfunder today as part of its BA Better World Community Fund effort.
The fund is BA’s effort to contribute to various community projects.
Lisa Tremble, BA’s director of corporate affairs and sustainability and chair of the community governance, said: “We are really proud to launch this exciting initiative, and as the nation’s flagship carrier airline we know how important it is to continue to connect with and invest in communities.
“We have supported our colleagues and customers in charitable giving for decades and look forward to doing even more to make a difference and offer life-changing opportunities to many community-led projects in the UK.”
The BA Better World Community Fund
Upon review by its Community Governance Board, organisations that meet the programme’s criteria receive the funding needed for their cause.
The criteria represents the BA Better World initiative, which focused on diversity, inclusivity, climate change, positive engagement and community support.

The Crowdfunder by the Warriors was part of their operation to grow their club and broaden access to the sport for anyone from the ages of eight and above.
They seek to grow members of their club in a fun and safe environment while promoting diversity and inclusivity into the sport.
The funding was to not only help them expand the club, but also for protective equipment, training aids and training programs for junior coaches.
Warriors American football club
The London Warriors, were formed in 2005 as a programme to give an opportunity young kids in the UK to play the sport that was popularized in the USA.
The club eventually formed a senior team in 2008 for the junior players that were too old to continue at junior level, and created their women’s flag and kitted teams in 2014 and 2015 respectively.
The club changed from just its junior team to an organization dedicated to a program dedicated to helping people grow both physically and mentally.
Both of the senior men and women competed at the highest tier of British American football leagues, winning multiple national championships in the past 18 years.
Current Washington Commanders defensive end Efe Obada played for the club in 2014 before moving to the NFL, the first player to make the transition from a European league to the States.
