Who could England face in the Round of 16 at the World Cup?

Even as things stand now, we already have a pretty good idea as to who England could be facing in the round of 16 in the World Cup, and there are a myriad of nations that the Three Lions could come up against in the following days and weeks.

While we cannot say for sure who they will come up against in the round of 16, we certainly can narrow it down to a few of the most likely candidates.

Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands are the most likely candidates

While England’s schedule in Qatar is mostly still undetermined at this point, there are a few teams that they could face in the round of 16.

Those candidates are Ecuador, Senegal and the Netherlands.

This team selection might not seem all too bad of a deal at a glance – surely England would be able to breeze past Ecuador, Senegal, and the Netherlands. Well, things might not be so simple.

Some of these teams have extraordinary potential, and to be completely forthright, a victory against any of these teams is far from guaranteed.

The World Cup is looking to be incredibly competitive right now, and while England does stand a much better chance than most of making it far into the competition, that’s not to say they couldn’t get taken out during the opening matches.

If England lose To Wales, the Netherlands await

England’s last 16 opponents will be tougher if they lose to Wales, as defeat on Tuesday night would probably ensure the Three Lions finish second in Group B.

That means the Netherlands are likely to be the opposition they face should they lose to Wales, and for all intents and purposes, this is pretty bad news for us.

However, the situation might not be better if they do top the group, as the opposition will be Ecuador or Senegal.

The odds on 10Bet South Africa indicate that Senegal is one of the top teams in the competition right now, and whilst they’re not as strong as the Netherlands, who beat them 2-0, it’s still likely to be the a difficult match-up.

Nevertheless; the chances that we could meet the Senegal national team on the pitch are not that high, as they would need to beat a solid Ecuador team to qualify.

We have no doubt that a match-up against Senegal would be jam-packed full of jaw-dropping moments and replayable scenes.

Will England make it past the first stage?

Now that the World Cup is upon us, many people are wondering whether or not England is going to be able to make it to the round of 16.

While we cannot give you a concrete answer to this question, things are looking pretty good for the Three Lions thus far and it would take a 4-0 defeat to Wales for them to crash out.
